The radius and ulna are two bones in the forearm that can be affected by conditions such as fractures and improper healing, leading to deformities, loss of range of motion, and pain. Given the hand’s crucial role in daily life, its surgery requires utmost precision. The unique anatomy and delicate nature of hand bones necessitate meticulous surgical techniques.

In the reported case, a deformity in the radius bone caused pain and limited the patient’s range of motion. By using the healthy contralateral limb and precise registration (separately for the distal and proximal parts of the bone), the location of the deformity was identified. Once the location and the degree of correction required for osteotomy were determined, the design of the cutting guide for this patient began.

The guide was designed based on the patient’s specific anatomy to ensure accurate registration at the designated location. The cutting guide features two edges for the saw blade and six pins for stabilization.

The pre-surgical planning offers advantages such as a preview of the surgical outcome, accurate bone modeling, and identification of the optimal cutting location and angle.

Similarly, the key features of the surgical guide include increased surgical precision, achieving the desired outcome, and reduced surgery time.
